The Cavaliers have officially signed free-agent small forward C.J. Miles to a two-year contract, which includes a team option for the second season.
Miles, 25, averaged 9.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 56 games (14 starts) for the Utah Jazz last season. He has spent his entire seven-year career with the Jazz.
The 6-foot-6 Miles was originally a second-round pick of the Jazz in the 2005 draft.
He will make $2 million per season with the Cavs.
“C.J. brings solid NBA experience to the team, yet is still just entering his prime at 25,” Cavs General Manager Chris Grant said in a news release. “His ability to play multiple positions adds depth and flexibility to our roster.”
Miles can play either shooting guard or small forward.
The Cavs are also still negotiating with Alonzo Gee on a multi-year contract.
If the two sides can't agree on a long-term deal, Gee can sign the Cavs’ tender for $2.7 million and become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
