Media days during All-Star weekend aren’t on the level of Super Bowl media day, but it seems to be catching up. Foreign press from around the world descend on the All-Star city in hopes of getting players to give “shoutouts” to their home nation and to read promos for their stations.
A Belgium reporter told Tyler Zeller he considers Zeller to be a more handsome version of himself, and Australian media grew excited when Kyrie Irving mentioned he was planning a trip back (Irving has dual citizenship there).
Then there was a traveling media crew who had an authentic Oscar they were taking on a road trip back to Los Angeles. They coaxed Kobe Bryant into holding the award on stage and giving a faux acceptance speech.
Only during All-Star weekend …
