Canton McKinley 3, Barberton 1
The Bulldogs scored three late runs to erasing a 1-0 deficit, to beat host Barberton in a Canton Division I Sectional game. McKinley scored two runs in the sixth and one in the top of the seventh inning.
McKinley right-hander Tristan Lunsford threw a complete game for the win.
Romero Harris and Elijah Carter provided some of the McKinley offense. Harris hit two doubles and Carter had three singles.
Kyle Sacher’s RBI single in the third provided Barberton (11-5) with its lone run.
Kent Roosevelt 14, Youngstown East 0
In the Struthers Division I Sectional, Kent Roosevelt pounded out 10 hits and held visiting Youngstown East to two.
Three Rough Riders (14-9) pitchers kept East off the scoreboard with starter Joe Watts getting the win to improve to 5-2.
Tallmadge 1, Cloverleaf 0
Kirsten Lightel threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout of the Cloverleaf Colts to improve to 16-2. Lightel struck out six in this Suburban League matchup.
The 10th ranked Blue Devils (18-3, 12-1) got the only run of the game on left fielder Nicolette Williams’ RBI double in the sixth inning. Karissa Kelling hit two singles for Cloverleaf (8-18, 4-10).
Louisville 3, Green 2
Doubles victories for Tommy Saunders and Tyler Fehr and John Moresea and Clay Hammes were not enough for the Bulldogs to overcome three Louisville singles victories.
NDCL 9, St. Vincent-St. Mary 2
Two goals by Julia Bowen were all the Irish could muster in a first round matchup of the Ohio Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association state tournament.
The game was shortened due to weather.
