The host Panthers (2-0) started the game off with a hat trick by Banae Fricker, building up a 3-0 first-half lead.
The Orangemen (0-1) mounted a nice comeback, led by two goals from Faith Inch, to cut the deficit to 3-2 by the half.
However, Perry junior goalkeeper Chloe Fleming held the Orangemen scoreless in the second half and the Panthers added two goals to close it out.
Nordonia 4, Kent Roosevelt 2
Nicole Lanese scored twice for the Knights and Regina Rudder and Mary Bradley each scored to begin the Knights’ season with a winning record.
Scoring for the Rough Riders were senior Carly Evans and sophomore Keeley Leising.
Walsh Jesuit 3, Solon 0
Freshman Sofia Rossi scored twice in her first high school game to start the Warriors’ season out on the right foot.
The youth movement continued with a goal from sophomore Christina Trickett.
Cuyahoga Falls 3, Ravenna 0
The Black Tigers allowed only five shots on goal, shutting out the Ravens in both teams’ season opener.
Senior Emily Gall scored twice for the Black Tigers and senior Jessica Benner added a goal of her own.
Firestone 6, Woodridge 0
The Falcons came out in midseason form in their season opener.
Reilly Dougherty scored four goals, two in each half.
Hannah Lingel added two second-half goals.
Streetsboro 182, Southeast 184
The Rockets (2-3) held off the Pirates by 2 strokes, led by a 4-over 40 by junior Phillip Lago and a 5-over 41 by junior Cody Johnson.
Senior Cody Tuttle led the Pirates (2-1) with a 4-over 40.
Louisville 171, Canton South 183
The Leopards improved to 4-2, 4-1 led by the efforts of senior Dominic Lacerenza who birdied twice en route to a 3-over 39.
The Wildcats drop to 0-6, 0-3 with the loss.
