Division II sectional final
Alec Bird of Canton Central Catholic defeated Josh Reyes of St. Thomas Aquinas 6-1, 6-0 to win the Division II boys tennis sectional at the College of Wooster on Friday.
Bird, Reyes, Dakota Thomas (Orrville) and Justin Bober (Archbishop Hoban) each advance to the Division II district tournament beginning Friday at Harvard Park in Canton.
Thomas defeated Bober in the third-place match.
Mason Daily and Michael Murphy of Central Catholic defeated Cole Duskey and Colton Shrader of Orrville to win the doubles title. Both teams will advance to the district tournament, along with David Blate and Brad Duplin of St. Thomas Aquinas and Karl Icsman and Marko Horattas of Archbishop Hoban.

Senior Calvin Miller singled to left field in the top of the ninth inning with two outs to score Kyle Kelly and give the host Fighting Irish (12-8) the Akron Division II sectional win.
Cuyahoga Falls 7, Stow 2
Ian Watson singled twice and drove in three runs for the host Black Tigers (8-14) in a Hudson Division I sectional.
Hudson 6, Brunswick 1
Senior Kevin Zullo drove in a run and won his fifth game of the season for the host Explorers (21-3) in a Hudson Division I sectional.

Senior Chris Gray singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs for the host Blue Devils (7-12) in an Akron Division II sectional.
Walsh Jesuit 9, Highland 0
Dominic Canzone went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and junior Ty Shoaff won his seventh game of the year for the host Warriors (24-0) in a sectional win.
Ellet 7, Kenmore 0
Senior Jacob Dubravetz singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the host Orangemen (14-6, 11-0 City Series) in a regular season win.
Springfield 1, Northwest 0
Kassy Flores singled three times and drove in a run for the host Spartans (11-10) in a Canton Division II sectional.

Senior Kirsten Lightel drove in two runs and struck out 15 for the host Blue Devils (19-3, 13-1 Suburban).
