Crestwood 9, Lakewood 8
The Red Devils rallied back from a 5-0 deficit to take an 8-5 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning at the Lakewood Tournament on Saturday.
The Rangers forced extra innings with a three-run seventh, but sophomore Zack Willet worked a 15-pitch at-bat with the bases loaded in top of the eighth, ending with an RBI single that gave the Red Devils (2-1) the go-ahead lead.
Crestwood 5, Holy Name 4
The Red Devils again rallied back in game two of the Lakewood Tournament, coming back from a 4-0 deficit after two innings.
Ben Cooley singled twice and drove in two runs for the Red Devils (3-1). Willet again was the hero, hitting a sacrifice fly that scored Nate Lind in the bottom of the seventh.
Garrettsville 8, Ravenna 7
After the Ravens took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 11th inning, junior shortstop Nick Jurcevic hit a two-run single to give the G-Men (1-1) a win in the Dave Starkey Tournament.
Jurcevic also tripled and had another single, totaling four RBI and two runs.
Shane Polidoro led the Ravens with two doubles, two RBI and a run.
Aurora 5, Louisville 2
Nick Ely led the visiting Greenmen (4-0) with three singles and an RBI in the first of two wins against the Leopards (0-4).
Matt Carpenter added two singles, a stolen base and a run.
The Greenmen took game two 9-4. Tom Branstein and Ben Stawicki each had two singles and two RBI in game two.
Green 2, Massillon 0
Runs in the first and third innings were enough for the visiting Bulldogs to improve to 2-1.
Calvin Kortze got the start for the Bulldogs and earned the win, improving to 1-0.
Brandon Papp picked up his first save and also had two singles.
David Fach led the Tigers (1-2) at the plate with two singles.
Windham 6, Streetsboro 3
The visiting Rockets scored three runs in the bottom of the first in the Dave Starkey Tournament and led 3-2 heading into the seventh inning, but the Bombers put up four in the top half of the inning to take the lead.
Brad Kowalski knocked in two runs with a double and Andrew Harvey had two RBI of his own.
Chase Galinsky hit a two-run double for the Rockets.
Nordonia 8, Massillon 3
Starting pitcher Hannah Stroe continued her impressive start to the season, striking out 12 batters in seven innings.
She allowed three earned runs on five hits, picking up the win and improving to 3-0.
In three games, Stroe has already racked up 35 strikeouts.
Sophomore third basemen Jolene Teller led the Knights (3-0) at the plate with a single, a double and a run.
Sophomore third basemen Jordyn Lynn led the Tigers (1-2) with two singles and a run.
