Hudson 2, Stow 1
The host Explorers (14-3, 6-1) secured a season split with the Bulldogs (12-5, 4-4) in a Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division game Wednesday.
Hudson senior Tim Kennedy singled in junior Nanak Saran in the second inning. Stow tied the score in the fourth with an RBI single by senior K.C. Kolke. The Explorers answered in the fourth when junior Kevin Zullo singled in senior Jono Chafe.
Zullo earned his fourth win this season in relief of Saran.
Tallmadge 4, Wadsworth 3
Senior Kody Edwards hit a single, batted in two runs and struck out seven to lead the host Blue Devils (8-8, 3-6) over the Grizzlies (16-2, 7-2) in a Suburban League game. Edwards upped his record to 3-0. Tallmadge junior Jason Beaumont earned his first save.
Wadsworth junior Aden Campbell hit a single, solo home run and scored two runs.
Lake 12, Dover 11
The visiting Blue Streaks knocked off the fifth-ranked Division II Tornadoes (15-3) with a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With the game tied 11-11 since the fifth inning, junior Matt Blasiole singled to lead off the seventh for the Blue Streaks (14-4). He then stole second where he stayed until there were two outs.
Senior pitcher Matt Byo singled to right field to drive in the game-winning run that earned him a pitching victory as well, improving to 2-1.
Blasiole finished with three singles, a home run, six RBI and two runs.
Nordonia 4, Highland 1
The visiting Knights (13-5, 7-1 Suburban League) scored three times in the top of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie that had lasted since the first inning.
Back-to-back, two-out doubles by Billy Smith and Ryan Bauer got the job done for the Knights.
Highland drops to 14-5, 7-2.
Tallmadge 2, Highland 1 (Game One)
Junior center fielder Sierra Bennett drove in Taylor Phillips with a walkoff double in the bottom of the 13th inning to end a Suburban League marathon that completed an earlier suspended game.
The game was resumed in the 11th inning after being suspended April 8.
Junior starting pitcher Kirsten Lightel threw all 13 innings for the visiting Blue Devils and struck out 21.
Kaitlin Krajcik paced the Hornets at the plate with a single, double and a run.
Tallmadge 12, Highland 0 (Game Two)
Lightel continued her dominating performance, striking out 13 more batters over six shutout innings, improving her record to 11-2.
She also singled three times, drove in a run and scored.
Tallmadge sits at 13-5, 10-0 after the two wins. Highland is 12-7, 6-4.
