The host Hornets scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie for the Suburban League win.
Junior Bruce Kinsey and senior Ryan Miller each had two singles and drove in a run to lead the Hornets (2-0, 2-0). Sophomore Dylan Raney led the Bulldogs (0-2, 0-2) with two doubles.
Streetsboro 3, Barberton 1
Ricky Delambo earned the win in relief and had an RBI single and Alex Bison also had an RBI single to lead the visiting Rockets (1-0) over the Magics (0-1).
St. Vincent-St. Mary 8, Canton McKinley 1
Junior Corey Whaley singled twice, drove in two runs and struck out six to earn his first win of the season and the visiting Fighting Irish (1-1) defeated the Bulldogs (0-3).
Junior Vinny Carson singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Irish.
Springfield 14, Rootstown 4
Mitch Stubbs had four singles and six RBI and earned the win and Collin Floyd had two singles, a double and three RBI for the Spartans (1-0) in a win over the Rovers (0-1).
Smithville 1, Rittman 0
Jenna Kendall threw a no-hitter and struck out a school-record 18 batters to lead the host Smithies (1-0) over the Indians (0-1). Jenna McCanna scored on a bases-loaded walk by Casey Hicks in the bottom of the eighth to give the Smithies the win.
Nordonia 5, Copley 4
Senior Jenna Huff singled, homered, drove in two runs and scored two runs and the visiting Knights (1-1) scored three runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Indians (0-1).
Sophomore Hanna Stroe singled, doubled and drove in two runs and earned the win in relief.
Senior Lizzie Fela singled, doubled, tripled and drove in two runs for Copley.
Cloverleaf 6, Wadsworth 3
Sophomore Halle Smith singled and doubled and drove in two runs and senior Sam Allen had three hits for the host Colts in a Suburban League win over the Grizzlies. Sophomore Kelsen Lewarchick struck out three through six innings for the win.
Walsh Jesuit 12, Warren Champion 4
Seniors Lexi Noonan and Lauren Cianciolo each had three RBI for the host Warriors (1-0).
Ellet 11, Oak Hill (W. Va.) 0
Sophomore Autumn Smith hit a grand slam and also scored a run for the Orangemen (2-1) in a win at the Grand Strand Classic.
