Noah Mallen hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday to improve the host Wildcats’ record to a perfect 5-0.
Mallen’s single scored Damon Wade, who recorded four hits in the game.
Nate Ballinger had two hits for the Polar Bears (1-2).
Field 3, Ellet 0
Senior starting pitcher Mitch Kisamore shut out the host Orangemen over six innings, scoring once and driving in two runs on two doubles in the Falcons’ victory.
Senior Michael Poole added three singles for Field (3-1).
Canton Central Catholic 4, Claymont 3
In the second game of a doubleheader, the host Crusaders (4-2) mounted a seventh-inning comeback to avenge their 11-inning loss in the first game.
After a Steven Montgomery sacrifice fly scored Austin Blackerby to tie the game at 3-3, pitcher Shawn Jones singled down the right field line for the walkoff.
Jones threw a complete game, striking out nine with no walks for three runs on four hits against the Mustangs (4-1).
Barberton 8, East 7
The Magics (3-2) were able to hold off a four-run seventh inning comeback bid to defeat the visiting Dragons (0-4) in game one of a doubleheader.
Senior Dustin Osborne did it all for the Magics, earning his first save of the year while adding three singles, a double, four RBI and three runs.
Sophomore second basemen Casey Scalf added a single, double and an RBI for Barberton.
Mentor 9, Nordonia 7
The Cardinals (3-1) jumped out to a 7-0 lead by the second inning and were able to hang on to defeat the host Knights (2-2).
Junior Brandon Kasberg paced the Cardinals with three singles and a run. Junior starting pitcher Sam Vilk earned the win and added two singles and two RBI.
Archbishop Hoban 8, Green 2
Senior outfielder Doryian Smith had three singles, drove in three runs and scored twice in the Knights (1-1) victory over the visiting Bulldogs (0-3).
Junior starting pitcher Kate Boylan earned the win and singled twice.
Freshman outfielder Haylee Fisher and junior third basemen Alissa Younes each added two singles for Hoban.
Kent Roosevelt 5, Tallmadge 3
The Rough Riders (2-1) got off to a 5-0 lead by the fourth inning and hung on to defeat the host Blue Devils (2-2).
Senior second basemen Caiti Overholt had three singles, two RBI and a run scored for Kent.
Junior third basemen Sierra Bennett hit a home run for the Blue Devils, driving in one run.
