Firestone 72, East 62
Senior Evan Kennerly scored 19 points, and sophomore Raybon Lewis added 16 points to lead the host Falcons (3-1, 1-0) over the Dragons (0-2, 0-1) in a City Series game.
Junior Derik Lewis finished with 22 points and five steals, and senior Kenyon Philpott totaled 13 points to lead the Dragons.
The Dragons led 24-12 after one quarter and 38-33 at halftime, but the Falcons came back.
“We had to slow the tempo down,” Kennerly said. “In the first half, we had  turnovers. That is unacceptable. We just slowed the game down and cut down on the turnovers.”
Seniors Andre Simmons (13 points) and JaeQuan Jones (nine points, five rebounds and five assists) were also key for Firestone.
“East played very good pressure defense and we weren’t ready for that in the first half,” Firestone coach Dave Milo said. “In the second half, we came out and made adjustments and the kids played hard.”
Stow 41, Hudson 33
Senior Matt Beech scored 17 points, and the host Bulldogs (3-2, 1-1) used a 27-point second half to erase a halftime deficit for a Northeast Ohio Conference win.
The Explorers (2-1, 1-1) led 19-14 at halftime, but the Bulldogs rallied with a 10-4 run in the third quarter and a 17-point fourth quarter.
Junior Brendan Burdett led the Explorers with 15 points.
Ellet 77, Barberton 37
Senior Dionte Williams’ 15 points led the visiting Orangemen (4-0) over the Magics (1-3) in a nonleague game.
The Orangemen led 25-15 at halftime, and outscored the Magics 27-7 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.
Freshman A.J. Gareri scored 12 points, and senior Jake Williams added 10 points for the Orangemen.
Sophomore Brandon Taylor-Mitchell led the Magics with 12 points.
Highland 53, Tallmadge 45
Junior Brogan Scott scored 18 points, junior Tanner Houska added 17 points and the host Hornets rallied with a 32-point second half for a Suburban League win.
Scott scored nine of his 18 points in the third quarter, and Houska went 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter for the Hornets.
Wadsworth 65, Nordonia 47
Senior Kyle Prunty scored 22 points, junior Austin White added 12 and the visiting Grizzlies (3-2, 2-1 Suburban) defeated the Knights (3-1, 2-1).
Senior Eli Linder led the Knights with 17 points.
Kent Roosevelt 57, Springfield 35
Senior Myles Wright led the host Rough Riders (4-1, 2-1 PTC-Metro) with 17 points.
Field 52, Woodridge 47
Junior Gage Landis scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, and the host Falcons (3-1, 3-0 PTC-County) made six free throws in the final minute to pull away for the win.
Streetsboro 46, Mogadore 43
Senior Reggie Dublin made a free throw with less than a minute remaining in the game to give the host Rockets the win.
