Senior Jerome Lane scored 36 points and went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in overtime to lead the host Falcons (7-5, 6-0) over the Cardinals (4-6, 3-2) in a City Series game on Friday.
The Falcons led 40-27 at halftime and led 57-46 after the third quarter before the Cardinals went on a 25-14 run in the fourth quarter to get within two points with seconds remaining. Junior O’Shay Vinson made a field goal at the buzzer to tie the game to complete the Cardinals’ rally and send it to overtime.
The Falcons outscored the Cardinals 5-3 in overtime to remain undefeated in the City Series.
Senior Kevin Gladney scored 18 points for the Falcons and Vinson led the Cardinals with 22 points.
Twinsburg 51, Hudson 47 (OT)
Junior Jalen Washington scored 15 points and sophomore Tallin Johnson and senior Cooper Rea each scored 12 for the visiting Tigers (8-2, 3-1) in a Northeast Ohio Conference win over the Explorers (7-4, 2-2).
The Explorers led 22-13 at halftime but the Tigers rallied to take the lead with a 20-point third quarter.
Senior Zack Brandy scored 13 points and senior Ben Gedeon scored 10 points for the Explorers.
Archbishop Hoban 54, NDCL 53
Freshman Anthony Christian made a free throw with seconds left to give the visiting Knights a one-point lead, senior Jaelen Hollinger blocked a shot at the buzzer and the Knights (8-1, 3-1) defeated the Lions for a North Coast League win.
Christian got fouled on a layup with six seconds left and the score tied 53-53. Christian made the first free throw and missed the second to give the Knights a one-point advantage.
Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin got the rebound after the missed free throw and Hollinger blocked a last-second shot attempt to ensure the victory.
Hollinger scored 20 points, senior Saadiq Muhammad scored 16 and Christian had 10 points for the Knights.
Cuyahoga Falls 57, Solon 50
Junior Angelo Cugini scored nine of his 14 points in the third quarter to help the host Black Tigers (7-4, 2-2) rally for an NOC win over the Comets (4-7, 0-4).
Senior Devin Speicher went 5-of-6 and senior Henry Shaw went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Black Tigers pull out the win.
Shaw scored 16 points, Cugini added 14 points and Speicher scored 11 points to lead the Black Tigers.
Alliance 56, Canton South 50
J.J. Kukura scored 23 points to lead the host Aviators over the previously unbeaten Wildcats in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
The Aviators trailed by one point after the third quarter but outscored the Wildcats 14-7 in the final quarter.
Armond Fontes led the Wildcats with 14 points.
Walsh Jesuit 53, Cleveland Benedictine 44
Mark Mittiga scored 17 points, and the host Warriors (9-1, 4-0) defeated the Bengals (2-8, 0-4) for a North Coast League win.
The Warriors led 17-15 at halftime and outscored the Bengals 36-29 in the second half to remain undefeated in league play.
Norton 61, Kent Roosevelt 51
The host Panthers (10-2, 6-1) led 19-12 after the first quarter and never trailed the remainder of the game in a Portage Trail Conference-Metro Division win over the Rough Riders (3-7, 3-4).
Senior Tyler Sherman scored 13 points and junior Aaron VanBuskirk added 12 points to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Joe Watts led the Rough Riders with 15 points.
Coventry 55, Field 42
Jesse Oravecz led the host Comets with 16 points in a PTC-Metro win over the Falcons.
Michael Poole scored 17 points and Austin Sparks added 12 for the Falcons.
Manchester 54, Tuslaw 40
Senior Jamar Dukes scored 16 points, senior Bryan Daily scored 14 points and the visiting Panthers (9-4, 5-1) defeated the Mustangs (8-3, 4-2) to stay tied for the PAC-7 lead with CVCA.
K.C. Meyer led the Mustangs with 15 points.
CVCA 57, Triway 47
The host Royals (8-2, 5-1) outscored the Titans (2-7, 2-4) 22-7 in the fourth quarter to rally for the PAC-7 win.
The Royals trailed 40-35 after the third quarter but dominated the final eight minutes to remain atop the PAC-7 standings.
Bob Peters led the Royals with 33 points and went 13-of-15 from the free-throw line and Kyle Kearney led the Titans with 15 points.
