Mallory Pertee’s grand slam tied the score 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning and Taylor Leeder’s RBI in the bottom of the eighth drove in Jacque Ray for the host Red Riders (19-3).
Woodridge 6, Westlake 0
Amy Donze threw a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts, hit three singles and drove in a run as the host Bulldogs (20-2) scored all six runs in the third inning.
Boys track and field North Coast League
Walsh Jesuit won the Blue Division title with 147 points on Thursday.
Jordan Shepherd, Nick Ondracek, Brian Brennan and Tony Howkins won the 3,200-meter relay, and Shepherd and Ondracek went 1-2 in the 800, as did Howkins and Matt Krakora in the 3,200. Russell Platt III won the high jump and Cole Francetic went 13 feet in the pole vault.
Jack Srail won the long jump for Archbishop Hoban.
Girls track and field North Coast League
The Archbiship Hoban girls claimed the Blue Division championship with 132 points.
Hallie Sinko and Elizabeth Santucci were 1-2 in the high jump and Sinko won the long jump.
Nat Rothenbuecher won the 100 hurdles and teamed up with Chloe Evans, Allie Griffith and Anne Kramer to finish first in the 800 relay and Kramer won the 400 run.
Melinda Renuart was the 1,600 winner and Emily Jenkins, Jordan Moore, Malia Musso and Kennedy Payne took first in the 400 relay and Kailey Francetic won the pole vault for Walsh Jesuit, which finished fourth with 83 points.
Massillon 3, Canton South 2
Austin Starrett and Chris Rittenhouse won a first set tie-breaker and needed three sets to win at first doubles, Braxton Mannweiler and Darren Finefrock won at second doubles and Austin Mannweiler won at first singles for the Tigers, who finish 10-4 overall and 4-3 in the North East Tennis league after starting off 0-2.
