Firestone 3, Ellet 2
In what was both a rematch of an earlier City Series regular season match, and a preview of a future City Series tournament match, the visiting Falcons (13-6, 10-1) evened the season series in an intense five-set match.
After Firestone won the first two sets 25-11 and 25-18, the Orangemen (11-3, 9-1) sent it to a tiebreaker by taking the next two 25-23 and 25-22. Firestone didn’t let the pressure get to it, though, as it won the final set 15-12.
“The two sets we dropped were real close, and I’m proud of the way my girls maintained their composure after such tight sets,” said Firestone coach Stacey Myers.
Junior middle blocker Sara Davis lead the Falcons in kills with 31 and blocks with 6. Sophomore Janelle Perry was key in the deciding set, serving the final 3 points to secure the victory.
Firestone and Ellet will face off one last time in the City Series tournament on Thursday.
