Reid Worstell, Vince Cuenot and Josh Lever each rushed for a touchdown and Stephen Palombo kicked a 25-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to break a 21-21 tie and give the host Golden Eagles (6-1, 2-1) a Federal League win over the Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1) on Thursday night.

The Golden Eagles led 14-7 at halftime but were outscored 14-7 in the third quarter.

Jeff Richardson had a 74-yard run for a touchdown and caught an 85-yard touchdown pass to lead the Bulldogs.

Boys golf

Division III district

Junior Dan Mosher shot a 3-over-par 75 to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a second-place finish at Seven Hills.

The Knights shot 334, 5 strokes behind winner Warren JFK, and advance to the state tournament next week in Sunbury.

Division II district

Jeff Britton of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy shot a 4-over-par 74 to qualify as an individual and Canton Central Catholic finished in second in the standings to qualify as a team at Windmill Lakes on Tuesday.

Britton and CCC advance to the state tournament next week at the Scarlet Course in Columbus.

Girls tennis

Division II sectional
at Harvard Park

Anne Kramer of Archbishop Hoban will play Theresa Reinhard of St. Thomas Aquinas, and Neya Sterling from St. Thomas Aquinas will play Bella Sirpilla of Canton Central Catholic on Saturday in semifinal matches.

Kramer defeated Katie Kuzmishin of Our Lady of the Elms 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday in a quarterfinal match.

The Archbishop Hoban doubles team of Elisa DiMeo and Michelle Felden will play the St. Thomas Aquinas team of Sarah Mudd and Danielle Palutsis in a doubles semifinal on Saturday.

Abigail Hellwig and Larissa Douvikas of Field will play Jessica Duncan and Donna Kitchens on Norton in the other semifinal.

Division II sectional
at Rocky River

Alexandra LoPrinzi of Woodridge defeated Maddie Fitzsimmons of Rocky River 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals at Tri-City Park in Rocky River.

The CVCA doubles team of Bea Konstan and Maddie Haskell won three matches on Thursday to advance to the sectional semifinals.
