Volleyball

Ellet 3, Buchtel 2

The defending city champion Orangemen had their season on the line, needing a win to get into the City Series Championship.

After dropping the first two sets, Ellet was down to the final point, trailing 24-16.

They rallied back to win that set, as well as the next two, to improve to 13-6, 10-2.

Laura Lakins had 10 consecutive service points, including four aces and finished with 19 points total.

Lindsay Chafe added 28 kills.

The Griffins drop to 9-4 in the City Series following the loss.

The Orangemen will face Firestone (12-0 City Series) on Thursday at Kenmore High School.

Boys soccer

Fairless 2, Manchester 2

The Panthers had 32 shots on goal to the Falcons’ seven, but Fairless senior keeper Zach Androw made 22 saves to keep them in the game.

Senior Tyler Smith and freshman Trent Garver scored for the Falcons (8-6-2, 7-3-2 Principals Athletic).

Senior Matt Eidom and junior Mark Sobnosky scored for the Panthers (5-6-4, 5-2-4).

Girls soccer

Stow 2, CVCA 1

After the Royals (9-5-1) tied the score on a Bulldogs own goal, freshman forward Kayla Thompson erased the Bulldogs error with the go-ahead goal.

Kelsey Fobean scored the game’s first goal to put the Bulldogs (8-6-0) ahead.

Cuyahoga Falls 0

The Rough Riders held the Black Tigers to just three shots on goal to improve to 5-8-0.

Senior Maya Davis scored in the first-half for Roosevelt and MicKayla Moore added another in the second.

Jackson 4, Copley 0

The host Polar Bears scored three goals to knock off the Indians (9-5-1).

Senior midfielder Caitlyn Patton led the Polar Bears (10-3-1) with two goals and an assist.

Senior keeper Katie Kingsbury made five saves to preserve the shutout.

Firestone 2, Barberton 1

Reilly Daugherty scored and assisted for the Falcons (8-5-2).

Megan Zanin scored the go-ahead goal, breaking a 1-1 halftime tie.
