Sydney Mast had 21 kills, Melissa Nussbaum had 49 assists and the Comets (27-1) defeated the Eagles (27-2) in a Division IV state semifinal match on Friday at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton.
The Comets won the first set 25-21, lost the second set 21-25 and dropped the third set 18-25 before rallying to win the fourth set 25-23.
The Comets won the fifth and deciding set 17-15 to advance to play Maria Stein Marion Local today at 3 p.m. in the Division IV championship match.
Marissa Krier had 18 digs, Nussbaum and Makena Granger each had 11 digs and Granger also had 20 kills and six service aces for the Comets.
Nussbaum led the Comets with four blocks and Granger had four aces.
Beaver Eastern was led by Miranda Clark with 22 kills, six digs and four blocks, Chandler Brown with 11 kills and 21 digs and Brittany Mounts with 54 assists, 12 digs and four service aces.
Columbus Bishop Ready 3, Orrville 0
The Red Riders lost in straight sets 25-23, 25-21, 25-21 to the Silver Knights in a Division III state semifinal match.
Rylee Scott led Orrville (21-8) with eight kills and Hannah Plybon had seven.
Maggie Devault paced the Red Riders with 17 assists and two service aces.
Bishop Ready will play Casstown Miami East in the state championship match today at 5 p.m.
