Borowski scheduled
for rehab assignment
CINCINNATI: With the closer situation up in the air, Joe Borowski might be activated from the disabled list after making only one appearance on a rehabilitation assignment.
Tentatively, Borowski is scheduled to throw one inning tonight and again Wednesday at Single-A Lake County, but that is not set in stone.
''I'm hoping at most he'll need [both of those], Monday and Wednesday,'' manager Eric Wedge said. ''Then we can get him back in there after that.''
Borowski went on the DL in mid-April with a strained triceps.
TIME TO SHAPE UP — Jhonny Peralta made two errors at shortstop Saturday, tying him with Casey Blake for most on the team with five. ''Jhonny had a tough day. He has to do better,'' Wedge said.
Peralta tends to be a streaky player at the plate and in the field. ''He is far enough along in his career not to have those kinds of streaks,'' Wedge said. ''You can have a bad day, but you can't lose focus [for a stretch of games] and give away at-bats.''
FARM FACTS — Shin-Soo Choo doubled, singled and drove in a run as Buffalo beat Lehigh Valley 5-2 in Class AAA. Josh Barfield had two doubles and one RBI, and Jeff Harris (2-1, 4.09 ERA) gave up one earned run (two total) in seven innings, striking out eight. . . . Carlos Rivero had three hits, and Josh Tomlin gave up one run in five innings, but Kinston lost 4-3 to Winston-Salem in the first game of a doubleheader in Class A. Beau Mills doubled, singled and drove in one run in Kinston's 5-1 win in Game 2. James Deters (2-1, 3.67 ERA) threw five scoreless innings.
