Decision on Sabathia

In two or three weeks, General Manager Mark Shapiro will have to decide whether to be a buyer or a seller in respect to the July 31 trading deadline.

It's possible that C.C. Sabathia could be dealt away for prospects.

''This is my team,'' Sabathia said. ''I've been with them my whole career, but it's out of my hands. Hopefully, I'm going to be here with my friends, the guys I grew up with.''

JUST HIS LUCK — Sal Fasano, acquired from the Atlanta Braves last week to back up Kelly Shoppach, made his Tribe debut, catching the first nine innings of Saturday's 11-inning win in temperatures that hovered around 100 as the game wore on.

''The two biggest guys, and they throw them out there,'' he said, referring to himself and Sabathia.

''My hamstring did cramp up in the eighth inning, but it wasn't so bad. We had a lot of quick innings.''

ABOUT LAST NIGHT — Wedge was fired up the way his players rallied in the 10th inning to win 6-4 Friday night after blowing a four-run lead.

''That was as good a win as we've had in a long time, going back to last year,'' he said. ''I don't care what anybody thinks. What we did tells me all I have to know about these guys as a team, about their grit and fight.''

FARM FACTS — Asdrubal Cabrera singled twice, raising his average to .381 and Jordan Brown tripled and had three RBI in Triple-A Buffalo's 3-1 win over Louisville. . . . Beau Mills had two hits and scored twice, but Salem outlasted Kinston 10-9 in Class A. Jason Denham homered. . . . Dustin Realini homered and singled twice, driving in two runs, but Lake County fell to Lakewood 6-5 in Class A.
