CLEVELAND: Jhonny Peralta hit his 16th home run of the season with a runner on base to snap a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning Sunday.
Peralta has five homers in his past 12 games. In addition to having a seven-game hitting streak, Peralta is batting .353 with 23 RBI in his past 25 games.
Andy Marte also homered in the sixth to account for the Tribe's final run of the game. It was Marte's first home run since April 4, 2007, against the Chicago White Sox.
BULLPEN BONUS — Tom Mastny and Edward Mujica combined for 3 1/3 hitless innings; possibly the bullpen is settling down.
''We've seen flashes of what Mastny is capable of,'' manager Eric Wedge said, ''and Mujica has been very consistent his last few outings.''
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT — First-base coach Jeff Datz threw about 20 pitches to Grady Sizemore Sunday in preparation for tonight's (8 p.m., ESPN) home run-hitting contest at Yankee Stadium.
Sizemore elected to have Datz throw to him during the homer derby.
Along with Sizemore, the American League representatives will be Josh Hamilton, Evan Longoria and Justin Morneau. They will be joined in battle by the National League foursome of Lance Berkman, Ryan Braun, Dan Uggla and Chase Utley.
NO TV — Saturday's game at the Seattle Mariners was originally on the Fox Sports schedule, but the network dropped the game and neither Channel 3 nor SportsTime Ohio picked it. Consequently, it will not be televised.
It can still be heard on WTAM-1100 and the Tribe radio network at 3:55 p.m.
FARM FACTS: Jeff Weaver made his Triple-A Buffalo debut, giving up three runs, five hits and one walk in three innings, as the Bison lost to Louisville 9-3. . . . Nicholas Weglarz tripled and singled, as Kinston defeated Winston-Salem 6-4 in Class A. Beau Mills hit his 15th home run and lifted his RBI total to 60. . . . Danny Salazar (3-0, 1.06 ERA) gave up one run and three hits in seven innings, as the Gulf Coast League Indians beat the Yankees 3-2.
