CLEVELAND: Michael Bourn is off the disabled list and probably will start in center field tonight against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
“He’s ready to go,” manager Terry Francona said Thursday. “I think he’ll start tomorrow night.”
Francona indicated that Bourn will gradually work his way back to everyday duty. “We’ll monitor him,” Francona said. “We have that doubleheader coming up (presumably Bourn wouldn’t play in both games.)”
Bourn went on the disabled list April 15 with a lacerated right index finger, a result of being stepped on as he slid into first base against the Chicago White Sox.
To make room on the roster for Bourn, left-handed reliever Scott Barnes was optioned back to Triple-A Columbus.
