Indians notebook: Justin Masterson nominated for Roberto Clemente Award

KANSAS CITY, MO.: Justin Masterson has been selected by the Indians as their nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award.

Each major league franchise nominates a player for the award, which is based on a player’s contributions to the game on and off the field.

Fans — who count as one among the selection committee — can vote for their nominee of choice until Oct. 6 by visiting The winner will be announced during the World Series.

“On this team, there are a lot of guys who could get the same nomination,” Masterson said.

Masterson, who is recovering from a strained oblique, will play catch today from 120 feet, then throw a bullpen session off the mound Friday.
