The Indians added two more nonroster free agents to the club Tuesday: Catcher Omir Santos, 31, and outfielder Jeremy Hermida, 29, were signed to minor-league contracts and invited to spring training with the major-league club.
Hermida spent last season with the San Diego Padres, splitting time between the Padres and their Triple-A affiliate. He has a career average of .257 with 65 homers and 250 RBI with five major-league teams.
Santos spent most of last season at Triple-A Toledo in the Detroit Tigers’ farm system and Colorado Springs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.
His combined numbers: a .310 batting average with 16 doubles, two homers and 30 RBI in 61 games.
He also played in three games for the Tigers.
Since 2008, Santos played 121 games in the big leagues with the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Tigers.
