Cincinnati 65, Kent State 46

The Kent State University Golden Flashes (1-2) were made to pay for a slow start to the second half in a 65-46 loss to the host Cincinnati Bearcats (1-2) on Sunday afternoon.

In the first half, both teams struggled to gain any significant advantage as the game was tied four times and the lead changed hands eight different times. Kent State’s largest lead came just five minutes into the game when it went up 9-7. The Bearcats entered the half with a 32-29 lead.

Unfortunately for Kent State, it was unable to get anything going in the second half, and did not score a basket until four minutes in. Cincinnati went on an 11-3 run late in the game to pull away for the victory.

Larissa Lurken was KSU’s top performer and scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Amber Dunlap scored 10 points and Montia Johnson recorded 10 rebounds for the Flashes.

Kent State next plays on Friday, when it travels to Arkansas State.
