Notebook: Kent State is coming off its third consecutive loss, a heartbreaking 69-68 defeat Saturday against visiting Ohio. The Golden Flashes made 13 turnovers in the second half. … Northern Illinois is coming off a 42-25 loss at Eastern Michigan, its ninth defeat in 11 games. In the loss, the Huskies had their best defensive effort in seven seasons, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting the Eagles to 37 percent shooting. Despite being held to a season-low 25 points, NIU had a season-low eight turnovers and a season-high 23 offensive rebounds. … Kent State senior guards Chris Evans (17.1 points per game) and Randal Holt (14.0) continue to provide the bulk of the offense for the Flashes. With three 3-pointers against Ohio, Holt needs just five to tie the Flashes’ all-time leader Trevor Huffman (210). … The Huskies are led by sophomore guard Abdel Nader, who averages 13.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. … The Flashes lead the all-time series 32-17 and have won the past 11 games, and 15 of the past 16. The Huskies’ last win over the Flashes was Feb. 8, 2003, in Kent.
