KSU golfers lead Bank of Tennessee event

The Kent State University men’s golf team leads the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate heading into today’s final round in Jonesborough, Tenn.

All five Golden Flashes shot par or better during the second round, led by Corey Conners and Nick Scott who each carded 3-under 69.

Conners is tied for sixth ­individually.

The Golden Flashes take a 2-stroke lead into the final round.


• Following a huge upset over No. 18 Ohio University, Kent State University continued its strong play with a 3-0 victory over Central Michigan for its third consecutive win.

Kelly Hutchison led the Golden Flashes (10-9, 4-2 MAC) with 11 kills. Aleksandra Nowak had 31 assists and Hannah Herc had 12 digs.

• The University of Akron dropped to 0-6 in the Mid-American Conference following a 3-0 loss on the road to Bowling Green. Kelsey Wilson led the Zips in kills with nine. Karley Kusan led Akron in assists with 26 and Jill Paluch led defensively with 13 digs.

Field hockey

Hannah Faulkner scored early to get Kent State University on the board, and also sealed the win with an overtime goal as the Golden Flashes defeated Central Michigan 3-2.

Madison Thompson scored the other goal for the Golden Flashes (6-8, 2-0 MAC) and also had an assist.

Rebecca Lee had two assists.
