Kent State University senior Corey Conners became the first back-to-back individual champion in the nine-year history of the Gopher Invitational.
Conners shot a 2-under 69 in the final round to complete his 1-shot victory over California’s Brandon Hagy in Independence, Minn.
The Golden Flashes finished third among 12 teams.
The University of Akron shot a 2-under 286 on Monday to enter the final round of play at the Golfweek Program Challenge 7 strokes off the lead and in third place in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
J.B. Williams led the Zips for the second consecutive day, shooting a 3-under 69 to end the second round in fourth place with a total score of 7-under 137.
