The University of Akron rebounded from its 2-0 home loss against Hartwick on Saturday by defeating host Cleveland State 2-1 Wednesday night.
Freshman Adam Najem scored a goal in both halves to lead the Zips (8-3-0).
The Zips controlled the majority of the match, outshooting the Vikings (3-9-0) 11-6.
Najem first scored in the 20th minute off a cross by Reinaldo Brenes.
He scored again in the second half off a cross by Saad Abdul-Salaam.
Zips keeper Fernando Pina held the Vikings in check with three saves.
Sergio Manesio scored the goal for Cleveland State, but not until the 87th minute.
The Zips are 3-0 in matches following a loss this fall and 8-0-1 since 2007. Had they lost, it would have been their first back-to-back losses since 2007.
UA returns home Tuesday night to take on Wake Forest.
