Eastern Michigan 65, Kent State 57
Montia Johnson scored 14 points, and Ashley Evans added 11 points for the Kent State women’s basketball team in a 65-57 loss to host Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti on Thursday.
The Golden Flashes (5-16, 1-9 Mid-American Conference) trailed by three at halftime, but were outscored 33-28 in the second half by the Eagles (13-8, 3-7).
Amber Dunlap made a field goal with 11:31 remaining in the game to give the Flashes a 41-40 lead, but the Eagles went on a 13-0 run over the next six minutes to put away the game.
Dunlap finished with nine points, and CiCi Shannon led the Flashes with 11 rebounds. Evans led the Flashes with four assists and two steals.
Natachia Watkins led the Eagles with 13 points.
The Flashes return home this Sunday for the “Play 4 Kay” game against Toledo at 2 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
