Kent State fell to 0-7 in the Mid-American Conference and 3-15 overall after losing on the road to Miami (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes shot only 32 percent in the first half. Kent State played tougher in the second half, being outscored just 39-36 by the RedHawks (6-12, 2-5) and shooting 52 percent from the field. It wasn’t enough to make up for the first half.
Rachel Mendelsohn led Kent State with 19 points. Other starters to score in double figures for the Golden Flashes were Ashley Evans (12 points) and Amber Dunlap (11).
Kelsey Simon led the RedHawks with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Golden Flashes will continue their quest for their first league victory Wednesday night at Northern Illinois.
