Kent State 44

Montia Johnson scored 17 points, and the Kent State women’s basketball team lost 61-44 to St. Bonaventure on Friday night at the M.A.C. Center in the final nonconference game for the Golden Flashes.

The Bonnies (10-4) outscored the Flashes (3-8) 42-25 in the second half after a 19-19 halftime tie.

CiCi Shannon had nine rebounds and Ashley Evans had four assists and four steals to lead the Flashes. Janae Peterson had seven points and Amber Dunlap had six points for the Flashes.

The Flashes shot 34 percent from the field, compared with 51.4 percent for the Bonnies. The Flashes were 8-of-17 from the free-throw line and outrebounded the Bonnies 33-28.

The Flashes begin conference play on Jan. 4 with a home game against Eastern Michigan.
