A poor first half hurt the Golden Flashes for the third straight game as Kent State found itself down 32-18 by halftime in a Mid-American Conference loss to Toledo at the M.A.C. Center in Kent.
The Flashes (5-15, 4-6) shot just 25 percent in the first half (8-of-32), while the Rockets (15-7, 8-2) hit five shots behind the 3-point arc. Toledo’s Courtney Ingersoll, who had a game-high 20 points, was 3-of-5 in triples.
Kent State tried to rally in the second half as Tamzin Barroilhet scored 10 of her 12 points, Trisha Krewson had nine of her 11 points and Diamon Beckford had nine of her 12 points. The Flashes were 16-of-30 from the floor (53.3 percent).
The Rockets were also hot in the second half, shooting 55 percent (11-of-20).
KSU had the advantage in points in the paint (34-20), points off turnovers (24-12) and second-chance points (12-7), but Toledo won the rebounding battle 41-28.
Kent State will play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastern Michigan.
