ATLANTA: Alonzo Gee caught Dion Waiters' misfire and put it back in at the buzzer and the Cavaliers escaped with a stunning 113-111 win Friday over the Atlanta Hawks, ending the league's longest winning streak at six games.

Waiters was terrific most of the night, finishing with 21 points and seven assists. The seven assists ties a career high he set in the Cavs' previous game against the Phoenix Suns.

Waiters dribbled near half court on the Cavs' final possession before hoisting an ill-timed 3-pointer that caught nearly everyone off guard. Everyone except for Gee, who caught the airball and scored the basket to cap a night of dominance by the Cavs on the glass.

The Cavaliers outrebounded the Hawks 49-25. Anderson Varejao and Tristan Thompson combined for 33 rebounds to handle the Hawks by themselves.

The Cavs surrendered a season-high 67 points in the first half and trailed by 11 at the break, but slowly chipped away, holding the Hawks to one basket over a five-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to pull back into the game.

The Hawks temporarily tied the game at 111 on a 3-pointer by Lou Williams, setting up Gee's final shot.

It was the seventh consecutive double-double for Varejao, who finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Thompson's 15 rebounds also tied a career high.

Jeremy Pargo had 22 points, Gee finished with 13 points and five rebounds and Tyler Zeller had 10 points off the bench.
