Waiters to remain in starting lineup thanks to winning streak
INDEPENDENCE: Dion Waiters will remain in the starting lineup even though C.J. Miles is over his virus and available to return.
Scott joked Monday that coaches, players and ex-players are all superstitious folks, and since Scott is both a coach and an ex-player, he certainly qualifies. And yes, he is superstitious.
The Cavs are 3-0 since Waiters returned to the starting lineup when Miles fell ill. He is averaging 9.7 points and is shooting just 35 percent over the last three games, but Scott isn't going to tinker with what's working. It's the Cavs' first three-game winning streak of the season and their first since March 7-11 last year.
Scott said he is sticking with Waiters because Miles is still getting his legs back and because of the performance of the starting unit.
"More probably because of the performance of the starting unit," Scott said. "They've played pretty well together. As young as they are, they still play pretty good."
The starting lineup of Kyrie Irving, Waiters, Alonzo Gee, Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller is 6-4. Every other lineup is 5-28.
