NFL notebook — Dec. 10

Associated Press

Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter isn’t saying much about his recent interview with Boise State.

Koetter confirmed on Tuesday that he met with Boise State officials, but declined to elaborate.

In two seasons with Atlanta, Koetter has had mixed results.

Last season’s team, led by Pro Bowl performances from quarterback Matt Ryan, receiver Julio Jones and tight end Tony Gonzalez, went 13-3 and finished 10 yards shy of the Super Bowl.

This season, the Falcons are 3-10 and have been undermined by a porous offensive line, an ineffective running game and Jones’ season-ending injury.

Koetter went 26-10 as Boise State’s coach from 1998-2000. He was 40-34 at Arizona State from 2001-06.

Boise State is trying to replace Chris Petersen, who took the job at Washington.

Starks teased over play

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks says he’s hearing plenty of teasing from teammates for his role in a video that has gone viral.

After Starks fell on a Pittsburgh Steelers fumble, the video shows center Cody Wallace trying to make him cough up the ball by poking him repeatedly with his left fist in the backside below the waist, an off-limits area even in the rough-and-tumble NFL.

Starks said he didn’t retaliate because when he rose from the pile, he wasn’t sure of the perpetrator.

“I saw two people, and didn’t know which one it was,” Starks said Tuesday. “It’s tough not to react. If I had done something I would have gotten thrown. I’m glad I didn’t know who it was, because it would have gotten ugly out there.”

While Wallace faces a possible fine, Starks’ teammates were amused by the incident in Miami’s 34-28 victory Sunday.

“They are getting on me — ‘Check the prostate’ and stuff like that,” Starks said. “I’m hearing it.”

Ravens put Stokley on IR

The Baltimore Ravens have placed wide receiver Brandon Stokley on injured reserve, ending his season.

Stokley sustained a concussion in Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. He has had multiple concussions over his 15-year career, and the Ravens determined after testing that the 37-year-old would not be able to return anytime soon.

Stokley began his career with the Ravens in 1999 and signed a one-year contract as a free agent in August.

Bills rookie Meeks returns

The Buffalo Bills have activated rookie defensive back Jonathan Meeks off the injured reserve/designated for return list.

The move on Tuesday came on the first day Meeks was eligible to be activated after missing eight weeks with a sprained right ankle. Meeks was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson, and had appeared in Buffalo’s first six games.

To make room on their roster, the Bills released linebacker Jamaal Westerman.

Flex schedule change

The NFL will move the matchup between Chicago and Philadelphia to the prime-time slot on Sunday, Dec. 22.

The Bears (7-6) will travel to face the Eagles (8-5) at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
