NFL preview capsule — Dec. 1

Jaguars (2-9) at Browns (4-7)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Browns by 7.

The skinny: The Brandon Weeden era returns to Cleveland to a chorus of boos. The Jaguars have covered two of their past three games. Worth a shot.

The pick: Jaguars.

Dolphins (5-6) at Jets (5-6)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Jets by 2.

The skinny: The Jets and Miami are two of the six AFC teams muddled with 5-6 records. The Jets have lost to three of those teams this season — Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee — which means they have little room for error. The Jets are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) at home this season and Miami is 2-7 ATS in its past nine road games.

The pick: Jets.

Cardinals (7-4) at Eagles (6-5)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Eagles by 3.

The skinny: Philadelphia, coming off a bye, finally snapped its 10-game home losing streak two weeks ago, but is still 6-20-1 against the spread in its past 27 home games. The Cardinals’ No. 8 will be a big test for Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles.

The pick: Cardinals.

Titans (5-6) at Colts (7-4)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Colts by 4.

The skinny: I know the Titans have covered five consecutive road games, but Indianapolis (off a 40-11 roasting vs. Arizona) is 11-1 against the spread in its past 12 games following a loss.

The pick: Colts.

Bears (6-5) at Vikings (2-8-1)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Vikings by 1.

The skinny: Are the Bears still the Monsters of the Midway? Try the Minions of the Midway. Chicago, 1-6 against the spread in its past seven games, needs to keep pace with the first-place Lions (7-5).

The pick: Bears.

Patriots (8-3) at Texans (2-9)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Patriots by 7½.

The skinny: I’m guessing the Texans will eventually win (after losing nine in a row), but I can’t back them here against Tom Brady & Co.

The pick: Patriots.

Buccaneers (3-8) at Panthers (8-3)

Time: 1 p.m. today.

Line: Panthers by 8.

The skinny: The Buccaneers’ three-game win streak makes you pause a bit here, even against the red-hot Panthers, winners of seven in a row. Nah.

The pick: Panthers.

Rams (5-6) at 49ers (7-4)

Time: 4:05 p.m. today.

Line: 49ers by 8½.

The skinny: St. Louis always plays the 49ers tough (5-2 against San Francisco in past seven meetings). But San Francisco is 7-1 against the spread in past eight games.

The pick: 49ers.

Falcons (2-9) vs. Bills (4-7)

Time: 4:05 p.m. today in Toronto.

Line: Bills by 3½.

The skinny: To the great people up North, our condolences for having to watch such a yucky game, ehh?

The pick: Bills.

Broncos (9-2) at Chiefs (9-2)

Time: 4:25 p.m. today.

Line: Broncos by 5½.

The skinny: I think Denver will rebound from last week’s road loss to New England and begin locking down the AFC West.

The pick: Broncos.

Bengals (7-4) at Chargers (5-6)

Time: 4:25 p.m. today.

Line: Chargers by 1.

The skinny: I know the Chargers pulled off an impressive road win against Kansas City, but the Bengals will earn a signature road win here en route to the AFC North title.

The pick: Bengals.

Giants (4-7) at Redskins (3-8)

Time: 8:30 p.m. today.

Line: Giants by 1½.

The skinny: If the Giants have any chance of winning the division, they’ll have to run the table. Big Blue has dropped five straight covers against the Redskins, but Washington is 1-8 against the spread in its past nine games against NFC foes. Less talk and more action, G-Men.

The pick: Giants.

Saints (9-2) at Seahawks (10-1)

Time: 8:40 p.m. Monday.

Line: Seahawks by 5.

The skinny: NFC’s game of the year. I’ll follow Saints (5-0 against the spread in past five Monday games) in what I expect to be a close one.

The pick: Saints.
