CLEVELAND: Manager Sandy Alomar wasn’t going to push Michael Brantley on Saturday night, using him as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning.
But Brantley stayed in to play left, and the game lasted 14 innings. That took Brantley out of Sunday’s game.
“I didn’t want to use him that much, and he showed up today with a little [groin soreness],” Alomar said. “We’ll see how he is tomorrow or the next day.”
Brantley was nursing the groin injury last week, and Alomar was planning on bringing him back Sunday or tonight.
CARRERA SITS — Ezequiel Carrera played all 14 innings Saturday night but hurt his knee and didn’t play Sunday.
