Ramirez undergoes thumb surgery

Noted hand surgeon Thomas Graham performed surgery to reconstruct a ligament in the left thumb of Indians minor-league infielder Jose Ramirez today at the Cleveland Clinic.


Ramirez is expected to resume full baseball activity in eight to 12 weeks, which means he probably will participate in most of training camp. Ramirez spent most of last season at Akron but played briefly with the Tribe.
