Tribe signs catcher to minor-league deal

The Indians  today signed catcher Matt Treanor to a minor league contract with an invitation to big-league training camp.

Treanor, 37, was sidelined all of last season after undergoing surgery to repair his left knee. In 2012 played with the Dodgers, and in 468 major-league games, he is batting .221 with 18 homers and 129 RBI in 1,272 at-bats. He played with the Marlins, Tigers, Rangers and Royals in addition to Los Angeles.

Treanor is married to Misty May-Treanor, a three-time Olympic gold medalist in volleyball.
