• Big Ten changes mind, now open to national football playoff - 11:05 AM

  The Big Ten no longer is frigid to the idea of at least a four-team playoff for the national championship. In fact, the league is “curious.”

  That was apparent when an unnamed conference source floated the idea in the Chicago Tribune on Monday. The idea was to gauge public sentiment of moving soon to something other than the Bowl Championship Series’ two-team national-title format, which has existed since the 1998 season. But it’s akin to sticking one’s head out the door during a blizzard to see if the wind is blowing.
