Ohio State defensive lineman Lawrence Wilson will miss the rest of the season, coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday at his weekly news conference.
Wilson, a St. Vincent-St. Mary graduate in his junior season with the Buckeyes, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Saturday's 16-3 win over Purdue.
Last season, Wilson suffered a season-ending injury when he broke his right leg in the opener.
''I feel terrible for Lawrence,'' Tressel said. ''I feel worse for Lawrence than I feel for us. Anybody can sprain an ankle and you not have him in that game, but for a guy [who] went through a surgery a year ago, going . . . through a surgery now, man, he's a great kid, but unfortunately, that's what happens in this game.''
Wilson had started all seven games this season. He had totaled 18 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.
Rob Rose or Curtis Terry could start in Wilson's place or Cameron Heyward could move from defensive tackle back to defensive end.
No. 12 Ohio State visits No. 20 Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
