2013 NFL Draft: Alabama CB Dee Milliner to undergo shoulder surgery after combine, ESPN reports

Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder after the NFL Scouting Combine, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning.

The Browns have the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft, and they’re in the market for a starting cornerback. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay project Milliner, the No. 1-rated corner in the draft, as a top-five pick, and NFL Network’s Mike Mayock believes Milliner could become a top-10 selection if he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds or less at the combine in Indianapolis.

Despite his injured shoulder, Milliner plans to participate in every drill at the combine except for the bench press, according to the report. Defensive backs are scheduled to address the media at the combine on Sunday and work out on Tuesday.

Tony Fleming, one of Milliner’s agents, told ESPN that his client is expected to be ready for training camp. Milliner suffered the injury last season and played through it, according to the report.

“The doctors have informed us that he will be 100 percent and fully recovered in time for training camp in July,” Fleming said. “We will be providing all NFL clubs information prior to surgery and updates close to the draft.”

The surgery will prevent Milliner from participating in Alabama's pro day on March 13, according to the report.
