Track and field
Andrew Swan placed first in the 3,200-meter run; Ben Lazor took second in the 400-meter dash; Brian Kingure and Joey Melchiori finished in first and second place in the pole vault; and the 3,200-meter relay team of D.J. Lieberth, Lazor, Swan and Josh Marchese finished in first to lead the Aurora boys track and field team to a first-place finish at the Aurora Invitational. Lieberth placed second in the 800-meter run.
Abby Soltisz won the 3,200-meter run; Tori Chiller won the 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash; Challis Roberts won the 1,600-meter run; and Marissa Midgley won the 300-meter hurdles to lead the Crestwood girls to a first-place finish.
The Crestwood girls 3,200-meter relay team of Soltisz, Midgley, Roberts and Chiller finished in first and the 1,600-meter relay team of Lindsay Thut, Midgley, Hayley Zigman and Chiller also placed first. Zigman and Midgley finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.
Dorian Williams won the 400-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and was part of the winning 800-meter relay team to lead Streetsboro to a fourth-place finish on the boys side. Prince Franklin and Johnathan Williams finished first and second in the 100-meter dash for the Rockets.
Dylan Kager won the 800-meter run and Matt Monroe won the discus and shot put to lead Crestwood to a second-place finish.
Stow 7, Kenton Ridge 3
Freshman Landry Slider singled three times and drove in three runs and junior Jenni Heid singled twice and had two RBI for the Bulldogs (5-4) in a win over the previously undefeated Wildcats at the Gahanna Lincoln Showcase.
Hudson 3, Jackson 1
Kevin Zullo gave up six hits and allowed one run in the complete-game win to keep the host Explorers (10-0) undefeated this season. Nanak Saran doubled for the Explorers.
Canton McKinley 10, Firestone 5
Senior Travonte Fields singled, tripled and drove in four runs and sophomore Eric Glover-Williams singled three times and drove in a run, and the host Bulldogs (4-8) defeated the Falcons (2-6) in a nonleague game.
Kent Roosevelt 10, Revere 0
Joe Watts struck out 10 in a two-hit shutout and Brandon Gros homered for host Rough Riders (4-8).
Kent Roosevelt 4, Nordonia 1
Ben Fetters won the No. 2 singles match and Alastir Seed won the No. 3 singles match to lead the Rough Riders (7-2). The No. 1 doubles team of Danylo Laurentovich and Michael Burkey won in three sets for the Rough Riders.
