Myers sent back to Cleveland for med check

By Sheldon Ocker Published: April 20, 2013

HOUSTON:  After telling the media following his start Friday night that he has been pitching with tendinitis in his flexor (forearm) tendon, Brett Myers will return to Cleveland on Sunday for tests.

""We were watching how this thing might work,'' manager Terry Francona said this afternoon. ""We thought he might be sore today, and he was sore. We're sending him back to Cleveland to compare how it (forearm) looked when we signed him.''

Myers said he has been pitching with the condition since spring training, but that he ""doesn't feel it.''

Francona explained, ""He said he has it every spring and fights his way through it, but this time he's not turning the corner.''

The manager noticed that Myers' velocity dropped Friday night and went to the mound with head trainer Lonnie Soloff in the fifth inning to see if there was a physical problem. Myers told the manager he could continue and finished the inning.
