• The Kent State University womenteam fell to Cincinnati 59-41 on Monday.
Despite only trailing by three at halftime, the Golden Flashes (0-3) shot 19.2 percent en route to a 15-point second-half performance.
Senior forward Diamon Beckford was the only one of the Flashes to score double digits with 10 points — eight came from the free-throw line.
The Flashes face Florida A&M at 4 p.m. Friday as part of the Georgia State Tournament.
• University of Akron center Zeke Marshall was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week.
Marshall averaged 10.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.8 blocked shots per game during the 3-1 week for the Zips.
Marshall’s play at the 2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off earned him a spot on the all-tournament team. He also set the tournament record for blocked shots (13) and moved into solo possession of second place on the MAC career blocked-shots list (268).
The Zips return to action on Dec. 2, when they are set to host Middle Tennessee at James A. Rhodes Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
• Zips forward Rachel Tecca was also named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week.
This is the third time Tecca has received the MAC’s weekly award, and she scored the 1,000th point of her career on the road at Tennessee Tech.
The Zips return to the court Saturday, when they travel to Providence for a 2 p.m. contest.
Baldwin-Wallace University senior offensive tackle Jason Cook of Streetsboro and junior placekicker Chris Mohler of Kent Roosevelt were each named to the 2012 All-Ohio Athletic Conference second team.
Mohler led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 58 points as he connected on 37-of-40 extra-point attempts and 7-of-12 field-goal attempts.
