Walsh Jesuit junior Kyra Coundourides has committed to continue her academic and volleyball careers at Virginia Tech University.
Coundourides is the Warriors setter and will continue to play the position for the Hokies on scholarship.
“It has everything that I am looking for in a school,”Coundourides said. “They have strong academics and a strong volleyball program. I have great chemistry with the coaches and players, and I am really excited to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference.”
Coundourides said Clemson and Notre Dame also offered scholarships. Iowa State, Bucknell, Loyola (Md.), Loyola (Ill.), Cleveland State, Bowling Green, Kent State and Akron also expressed a lot of interest.
“The coaches and girls I got to meet at Virginia Tech were very nice and they all are working toward that same goal, which is winning a national championship,” Coundourides said. “When I went there it felt like Walsh Jesuit, a home away from home.”
