The Indians resigned right-handed pitcher Matt Capps to a minor league contract with a non-roster invitation to major league spring training camp.
Capps, 30, signed with the Tribe last winter but pitched in just seven spring training games and six regular-season relief appearances at Triple-A Columbus before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery June 5.
The eight-year professional owns a 29-33 career major league record with 138 saves and a 3.52 ERA in 444 relief appearances with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins since making his debut with the Pirates in 2005.
During the 2012 season, Capps saved 14 of his 15 chances with the Twins before being sidelined in the second half with shoulder inflammation.
