What: Middle Tennessee (4-1) vs. Akron Zips (3-2), 2 today.
Where: James A. Rhodes Arena.
Radio/TV: WARF 1350-AM.
Notes: It’s been a long layoff for the Zips, who haven’t played a game since playing in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Winners of two consecutive games, they will have to shake off some rust. The good news is that Demetrius Treadwell and Nick Harney are back and make their home debuts. The bad news: Middle Tennessee brings an experienced starting lineup, having lost just one player to graduation. The Blue Raiders are ranked 10th in the mid-major poll and arrive on a three-game winning streak. The Zips could have their hands full with guard Shawn Jones (10.2 points per game, 7.0 rebounds) and forward Marcos Knight (12.2 points, 6.9 rebounds). They need point guard Alex Abreu to be healthy and fully recovered from a sprained ankle, and they need to take advantage of having Zeke Marshall in the middle.
