Zips basketball: Treadwell drawing pre-season attention

By George Thomas Published: October 4, 2013

If the below news release is any indication, Demetrious Treadwell will be getting a lot of accolades for his play during the coming season.  From a UA Athletics Department release:

BOSTON University of Akron senior forward Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell has been named to the 2013 Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team, CollegeInsider.com announced on Wednesday.

Treadwell, a senior from Euclid, Ohio, is the second Zips' student-athlete to be named a Lou Henson Preseason All-American (Zeke Marshall, 2012). The Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team is named in honor of Lou Henson – who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years – and recognizes the top mid-major players in the nation.

Treadwell is the reigning Mid-American Conference Tournament MVP after averaging 13.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 50.0 from the floor in two tournament contests. He averaged 11.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while leading the Zips with nine double-doubles.

So far this season, Treadwell has been named Preseason All-MAC by Lindy's Sports, Athlon Sports, Sporting News and USA TODAY Sports.
