Zemanski reunites with former UA soccer coach

Associated Press The Portland Timbers acquired former Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and University of Akron midfielder Ben Zemanski from Chivas USA for allocation money and the right of first refusal to defender Jonathan Bornstein. The 24-year-old Zemanski has two goals and seven assists in 72 games in three MLS seasons. Before he was selected in the third round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Zemanski was a standout at Akron under then-coach Caleb Porter, who is now Portland’s coach. The Timbers also acquired the right of first refusal to midfielder and former UA standout Michael Nanchoff from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2015 MLS Supplemental Draft.
