Former University of Akron player Cedrick Middleton has joined the Zips' basketball program as a graduate assistant.
He will have various assignments with the team while pursuing a master's degree in sports science and coaching.
''Cedrick was one of the hardest-working players we have had at Akron,''' UA coach Keith Dambrot said. ''He had a great playing career and is a great person.''
Middleton played four years at UA and helped the Zips compile a 92-38 record over that period.
He finished his career with 1,120 points (29th on the all-time list) and 131 steals (eighth). He played in a school-record 130 games and was the 2007 Mid-American Conference Sixth Man of the Year.
Middleton received a bachelor's degree in communication in May.
